Jason Reitman Will Bring The Ghostbusters Back In 2020

In somewhat unexpected news, it was revealed yesterday that Jason Reitman would be directing a new Ghostbusters film which is set for release in the summer of 2020.

If you somehow managed to miss the news yesterday, it was announced by Jason Reitman (son of original director Ivan) that a new Ghostbusters sequel is indeed in the works. The new film will be a continuation of the series which started in 1984 and spawned one sequel, an animated series and a reboot in 2016.

Details are limited, although a teaser trailer has already been released which has literally given me chills. The new film will be seen as a passing of the torch in more ways than one and it is hoped there will be appearances by the original cast – although nothing has been confirmed at the moment.

Other details will be confirmed over the coming months, and Sony still plans to release an animated Ghostbusters feature film in the near future, but that is thought to be no relation to Jason Reitman’s planned sequel.
